PSALM 74:12-17 JAMES 5:7-11 GENESIS 8:15-22
MEMORY VERSE ROMANS 6:4
Wilderness is a deserted place that is inhabited, unhospitable place that is very dry, empty and a wasteland. In the Christian walk with God the wilderness is featured in many chapters and verses in the bible of people who went through the wilderness and came out victorious.
Wilderness is a deserted place of solitude, a place where there’s confusion, despair, suffering and pain. James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
The Israelites went through the wilderness in the leadership of Moses for 40 years, they faced challenges of providence of food and water. God still provided for them in the wilderness and eventually fulfilled his promise by taking them to the promised land. Deuteronomy 8:2-6
The Christian walk with God brings a paradigm shift to focus on finding purpose in the wilderness. Though there are diverse challenges that Christians experience in the wilderness but having the assurance of God’s presence makes a whole lot of difference.
Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
The purpose of the wilderness is to train, strengthen and prepare us for a new move, but many at times when people go through this challenges they feel mostly that God has deserted them when in reality it is for our own good that we go through the wilderness because his will and purpose will always prevail.
True purpose is therefore found in knowing that God is with you in whatever challenges you are facing and God’s presence is there which brings comfort and divine strength to soldier on. The uncertainties we face in the wilderness crate a need a total dependence on God and a personal intimacy with God at a very deeper level.
The wilderness is a place of revelation, spiritual growth, purpose and prosperity. The wilderness feels dark and lonely but God is the light in the darkness. As Christians we need to seek God deeper to understand in-depth truths that will guide into paths of righteousness.
