Truth by English definition refers to that which is aligned to fact or reality. It is that which is exact on or accurate. It refers to a person who is loyal or faithful in character.
In scripture, truth intertwined with the character of God. God's nature and character are dependable and accurate. They support his word and actions, God is constant and unchangeable, He is a person whom people can rely on.

The Bible places truth on a very high pedestal. The bar is raised very high. It defines truth as being utterly reliable and enduring. This is because truth is linked to the character of God. God is therefore truth, and is also the God of truth. In view of the aforestated, we can conclude that truth has the following qualities:-

1. Truth is absolute – This means that truth is the standard, and there cannot be another standard. Once a standard is set, it is dogmatic and immutable , it is not subject to change
2. Truth is established by God: Because God's character is what informs truth, it follows that he is the custodian of truth and the points of reference where truth is concerned.
3.    Truth does not need proof, just witness. Truth is a stand alone phenomenon, and it therefore does not need a crowd to establish or validate it. It just needs witnesses who see it, hear it and testify to it.
4. Truth Is not a democratic process. Truth does not need to be popular to be legitimate. Truth is always legitimate, whether people like it or not, whether they buy into it or not. Truth can therefore never be in fashion or out of fashion. It is always true, and always present, and always accurate.
Romans 1 says that God has made his truth known to man. 'for what can be known about God is plain to them because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes namely his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, even since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse “ (Romans 1:19-20).

There are consequences to ignoring what God has established as Truth. First of all, the wrath of God comes upon man. This wrath causes man to fall into a state that is undignified and abased, otherwise known as corruption. Secondly, man's thinking becomes futile. This means their thoughts become vain and unproductive spiritually.

Thirdly, their hearts become darkened, which means they lose completely the ability to understand the things of God. Fourthly, they become fools while purporting to be wise. This is what informs many clever and logical arguments that are hostile to the nature, character and word of God.

Fifthly, they exchanged the glory of God for creeping and crawling animals, which means they become idolaters. Once one stops worshipping God, and starts worshipping idols, they take the nature and identity of the idols, they take the nature of the idols they worships.

Sixthly, God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so they debased themselves with all sorts of unimaginable acts that were shameful and degrading.
