This week we reflect on mission to our neighbors. Jesus said to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. We don't have a problem recognizing this in theory. But moving from abstract acknowledgment to concrete action is more troublesome. The problem lies in the fact that many of us don't even know our neighbors.

The command to love our neighbors is not just a theoretical concept. It is a choice to take action. It can be strategically planned out with a little forethought to sincerely show them and tell them about the One who loves them infinitely. There are a number of ways we can love and missionize our neighbors and reach out for Christ.

Living in a neighborhood is not the same thing as being a neighbor-- and loving your neighbor should include reaching them in the following ways.

1. Knowing them: You can minister to your neighbors with a systematic approach to knowing them. You may not necessarily remember their names but you can divinely grasp that there are those who need our material assistance.

2. Reach out to them: The Church's Out Reach Ministry is the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. We take them the gospel of good tidings of the LORD (Mt 28:19-20).

3. Pray for them: Prayer is fundamental in a life thus interceding for our neighbors is our daily vocation and mandate. It is good to spare time just for them in prayer.

4. And Invite them to the district and our Sunday services in church as we strive to be a positive presence among our neighbors. Since having a neighbor is inevitable, Jesus reminds us to have them not only in our schedules, but in our charity scheme as well. Those who require our help have a conception in themselves that we can assist them to some point and through this, they praise and experience the love of Christ.

If you are patient, consistent and loving toward them, you may plant the seed of their spiritual growth or you may get to witness their coming to faith. It starts with a simple decision to be strategic about reaching out to your neighbors with love.
