This month we have learnt a series of teachings on the subject of a healthy church. As such we should be able to diagnose ourselves individually and corporately to determine whether we are healthy or not. It is important to note that the Church is both a living 'organism' as well as an 'organisation'. In the sense of a living 'organism' a healthy believer and church must be diagnosed for the vital signs of divine life and virtues that flows through its expressions of godly graces and blessings.

In the sense of an 'organisation' our diagnosis must seek the signs of good organizational practices that are anchored in scriptural governance policies and systems that advance God's Kingdom with efficiency, effectiveness and excellency of execution of its ministries. In the 'organizational' sense the mandatory and operational nature of a healthy Church are well summed up by Pastor Rick Warren, of Saddle Back Church, one of the fastest growing churches in the USA, as follows: They

1. Grow warmer through fellowship.

2. Grow deeper through discipleship.

3. Grow stronger through worship.

4. Grow broader through ministry.

5. Grow larger through evangelism.

Evidently, GROWTH is a byproduct of HEALTH. Anything short of that is deformity and dysfunction on the part of the members and the organization the church. The health of the church must be diagnosed through your health as an individual believer. Christians in Healthy churches are characterized by their commitment to this principle; “speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body ofhim who is the head, that is, Christ. From whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.” [Eph 4: 15-16]

Therefore a healthy church and believer is SPIRIT-LED, PURPOSE-ORIENTED, TRUTH INSPIRED AND LOVE NATURED. Lack of these requisite health indicators in the believer and the community of believers in Jesus Christ indicate a state of sickness and spiritual dysfunction. They are the mandatory nature of the significant, relevant and transformational victorious church. This is a prayerful, powerful and purposeful entity that Jesus is building to contend with forces contrary to God's purposes in your life and society. “..and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.” Matthew 16:18
